Cowboy Butter, a butter that is loaded with zesty lemon and garlic, as well as a little kick from red pepper flakes will make you want to eat it on fresh bread, vegetables or steak.
What is Cowboy Butter?
Karl was the one who first introduced me to cowboy butter. I had never heard of cowboy spread. He assured that this compound butter with garlic and herbs was a true thing.
You can imagine my excitement as I visited my friend Sandra, and she told me that she would make cowboy butter to use on our steaks. The first taste was love! It was love at first taste!
Cowboy Butter
This isn’t your average butter. This creamy, zesty concoction is citrus-kissed and spice-tickled, with a zesty, garlicky flavor. I begged her for the recipe.
Lucky for me, it’s about as easy as can be to make. This compound butter can be made in just 5 minutes. It’s hard to wait for it to chill and firm up in the refrigerator.
If you’re serving this over meat, it’s well worth the wait. It’s better to let the butter melt slowly over your steak than dissolve instantly. It’s still delicious even after it melts. But, you can serve it chilled.
